The plans for improving the sea face designed here by the Naval Authorities are now before their Lordship's and will be seriously affected by the proposal of the Colonial Government to complete the Praya.
I have little doubt but that
the Admiralty will accede to the wishes of the Colonial Government as regards the sea wall, the
projecting jetty &c., and Fair
consent will be obtained much sooner if I can at once communicate on the subject
with the Admiralty
and obtain their general sanctions,
which I shall seek in such terms
as will leave the question of details open for arrangement out
here.
Our proceedings out here, for improving the Dock Yard—long delayed by various causes—will be still longer deferred to the serious detriment of the public service unless I can send to the Admiralty, promptly, at least a general sketch
of the Colonial plan.
I may mention that it will be essential that the width of
